"Life and Times of hikin_mike1960"
My name is Michael (a.ka. hikin_mike1960) and I was born here in Oregon. As I grew up my parents believed, we as a family should enjoy the great outdoor by fishing, camping and just spending the day at the river, swimming and looking for pretty rocks. This was where the seed was planted.
In the early 1980’s, I joined the United States Navy and was shipped all over our great country. This gave me the opportunity to see many new sites and experience new cultures. In all the different states I lived or visited, I felt something was missing. It was Oregon, two hours from the Portland area, one can find the ocean, mountains, lakes, rivers and the high desert.
In August, about six years ago, I decided to go and explore Silver Creek Falls Park in Oregon and brought along my digital camera. It was a very refreshing hiking the trails with many beautiful waterfalls and wild flowers. I came home with these treasures captured on my digital camera. When I was out there I found a peace inside me that was not there before and I wanted to feel and see more. I was hooked and the hiking bug was set.
Over these last few years, I have completed numerous day hikes, joined a hiking club and took up snow shoeing. My friends and co-workers encouraged me to start this little adventure. They would ask where I was hiking on my free time and to see the pictures on my return. As the adventures added up in numbers and bunches of pictures past about, it was suggested that I should try to sell my work. Now with a few art shows and small town vender fairs under my belt, the next step was to develop a website to share with all of you.
I hope you enjoy what Mother Nature has brought into my life with just taking one step after the other and walking with open eyes. May we meet out on the trails and share this beauty together. Have a great day and take a walk with Mother Nature and find peace.
